Remain vigilant to collect thoughtful testimonials from existing AND previous students AND parents who are willing to "go public" on our website. We do not so much want "praise" as we want sound reflection on- the proper goals of a secondary education and
- how Northfield did [or did not] help them reach those goals.
Thanks on the pix ... it helps people take that first step to come and visit us. After that, it is up to us to make sure they see an "educational opportunity" which they want for themselves and their children.
ReplyDeleteOK, so I'm assuming Mrs. Kidd took pictures of all the students and all the faculty so that this step is over with, right?
DeleteShe's not quite finished. We'll need a second day of photo taking, but I haven't heard back from her (just sent another email today) about when she will have them online. Will send a link to Bob as soon as I have it.
DeleteMike Alumbaugh was around last year and took a lot of candid and teacher pics around the school. He might be someone to ping.

ReplyDeleteI personally love the idea of teachers teaching multiple subjects. I'm a huge fan of modeling for our children what they are capable of. It feels like when we have teachers who only teach one subject (out of their own comfort level, as opposed to time available) it doesn't really convince the student that s/he can tackle any idea they face in their future. It feels very compartmentalized to me and I think it is VERY important that our curriculum and offering at Northfield are as far away from compartmentalizing as possible. Bill brought that up quite a while back. He mentioned wanting faculty to come together more often so we can have open discussion about our classrooms in the hopes that we would somehow "bleed" into each other. I've so missed being at the faculty meetings, but hope that I will be able to rejoin as my health gets better and better each day! : )
For icons, I like the:
ReplyDeletemolecule (grammar - what things are made of)
geometric compass (logic - how things fit together)
pen-in-hand (rhetoric - engaging in conversation)
I included all these in the ad draft I sent out a few weeks ago. Once I finish transferring last year's books for taxes, I can develop it further for digital and print ads as well as the Learning Pathways booklet.
I'm open to suggestions for improvement.
